JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Exchange Program: Integrating Emerging and Innovative Technology in the English Language Classroomis a two-week professional development program hosted by the Intensive English Communication Program (IECP) andco-hosted bythe Center for Language Acquisition (CLA) at Penn State.The program brings together international English language educators to explore ethical context-responsive approaches to technology integration dialogic and inquiry-based pedagogy and open educational resource (OER) development. Activities include academic workshops collaborative studio sessions site visits and a culminatingCapstone Symposium and ELTConference/Networking Day.
Position Summary:Program Support staff provide instructional logistical and operational support for program activities. This role is participant-facing and requires active engagement during workshops studio sessions site visits and program events.
Staff work collaboratively with programleadershipto ensure smooth delivery of programming support participant engagement and maintain a responsive learning environment.This is a temporary position from the dates of May 4 to June 30 2026.
Hours and Appointment:Upto 72total hours per position; Part-time non-benefits-eligible position; Hours scheduled based on program needs. This position pays $30/hour.
Reports To:Dr. Di LiangInterim Director of the IECP
Location:Penn State University Park campus and selected off-campus program sites
Primary Responsibilities
Communicate closely and promptly with the program leadership team
Support all phases of program planning and implementation (pre- during- and post-program) including coordination scheduling materials preparation/distribution and documentation
Coordinate logistics with vendors and partners (e.g. transportation catering reservations events) and assist with space setup technology checks and supplies
Serve as a primary point of contact for participants responding to questions providing guidance and communicating updates
Support instructional and program activities including classrooms workshops capstone sessions and conference/symposium events (setup materials technology and participant engagement)
Assist with participant engagement including capstone work peer collaboration and general program activities
Coordinate and support program events (e.g. meals site visits community activities symposium) including setup logistics and breakdown
Accompany participants to on- and off-campus activities assisting with group coordination navigation and logistics
Support participant arrivals orientation and departures including transportation coordination and on-site assistance
Monitor program flow address emerging needs and escalate concerns as appropriate
Assist with the collection organization and maintenance of program materials and required documentation
Qualifications
Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse international and multilingual populations
Reliable proactive and able to work independently
Experience supporting programs events or logistics
Basic familiarity with classroom or event technology (e.g. presentation tools)
Availability for the full program period including pre- and post-program responsibilities
Preferred
Experience in higher education or international programs
Experience supporting educational programs workshops or events
Experience working in multilingual or intercultural environments
Background in education applied linguistics or related fields
Familiarity with university administrative processes
Familiarity with digital tools or instructional technologies
Experience coordinating group events meals or logistics
Working Conditions
Work is performed in classroom event and off-campus settings
Includes travel to off-campus and regional locations (transportation provided)
