Job Title:Paraprofessional/Teaching Assistant - Special Education
Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Principal SpEd Coordinator & Teacher(s) Assigned Working Days: 188 days

Primary Purpose:
Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to Pre-K4-12th grade students for all core subjects.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED with
- Valid Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate or
- A College Degree may be substituted for a Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work well with children and/or teenagers
- Ability to communicate effectively be flexible and punctual and work within a team
- Ability to use Computers Google suite of products including Google Sheets Google Drive Google Docs and Zoom Copier & Audio Visual Equipment
Experience:
- Some experience working with children and/or teenagers
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
- Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to assigned students for all core subjects.
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory care and maintenance of equipment.
- Under the direction of Special Education Teachers the Teacher Assistant must keep accurate administrative records including service times goal progress and student attendance.
- Substitute for the regular teacher on an as-needed basis.
Student Management
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the Special Education or General Education teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom bus and playground duty.
- Keep the students General Ed and Special Ed teachers informed of the special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing stooping bending and lifting.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday 7:15 am - 4:00 pm
- Friday 7:15 am - 12:15 pm
