Job Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: $17.60 per hour


Job Summary:

Community Healthcaring Kitchener- Waterloo is excited to offer a Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) position for a Human Resources Summer Student to join the Human Resources team. This Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) position provides an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a career in Human Resources to gain hands-on experience in various HR functions including recruitment employee relations training and administrative support. As a Human Resources Student you will work alongside our HR to support daily operations and assist with key HR initiatives contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in posting job postings screening resumes scheduling interviews and maintaining interview records.
  2. Support new hire onboarding preparing orientation schedules ensuring up to date documentation and smooth transition for the new employee.
  3. Assist in maintaining accurate and confidential records in our HRIS system including training records documentation and more.
  4. Provide administrative support by answering emails organizing meetings scanning documentation and organizing HR system.
  5. Help ensure training records are updated and assist in setting up employees or changes to their training accounts.
  6. Data entry as needed.
  7. Assist and support the Human Resources Team and CHCKW as required.
  8. Other duties as may be assigned.


Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment period.
  • Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada.
  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Human Resources Business Administration or a similar field and intend to return to full-time studies in the next academic year.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR software is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Previous experience in an office setting or related HR coursework is an asset but not required.


Additional Information:

  • This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position specifically for students looking to gain work experience during the summer months.
  • The position is 35hrs per week.
  • The role will provide mentorship strong supervision plan & hands-on experience and the opportunity to enhance skills in human resources field.
