Description

A Transportation/ Civil Professional Engineer is responsible for preparing studies engineering calculations design and drafting of General Civil Engineering Projects with diverse knowledge of Roadway Design for Minor and Major Highway projects attending meetings coordinating schedules coordinating the management of workers time and cost checking project design and addition the Transportation/ Civil Professional Engineer is responsible for: Experience in developing digital terrain models profiles and cross-sections for highway projects in both AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and MicroStation.

  • Experience in completing the design of roadway construction plans signal plans maintenance of traffic plans utility coordination and construction documents.
  • Applicant should be knowledgeable of the Intelligent Transportation System Concepts.
  • Preparation of design calculations and modeling for traffic / transportation projects.
  • Assist in the Computer Aided/ Drafting of construction plans site plan exhibits etc.
  • Preparation of correspondence and attend meetings with Clients Regulatory Agencies Utility Companies etc. to obtain/ provide data necessary for projects.
  • Preparation of permits to the Regulatory Agencies which allow for the completion of studies projects etc.
  • Provide Quality Control checks of and aid other Professionals Engineers Technicians Design/ Drafters and Administrative Assistants of all work.
  • Perform construction administration services which may include preparation of quantity take-offs cost estimates bid specifications technical specifications construction contracts attend pre-bid/construction meetings provide on-site field inspections review monthly construction estimates and schedules and complete the final certification for projects.
  • Applicant should be familiar with the FDOT Professional Services Procurement Manual/Process and FDOT project completion process to acquire an FDOT Contract. Applicant MUST have a working knowledge of preparing SHE/AFP documents and navigating ERC/PSEE web-based FDOT platforms.
  • Preparation of Project Schedules and Budgets in the FDOT Standard format.
  • Preparation of proposals and engineering contracts for sub-consultants private sector clients local municipalities and the FDOT.
  • Coordinate Sub-Consultant efforts for preparation of engineering/ construction plans.
  • Participate in Marketing of the Firm by attending mandatory events.
  • Attend professional seminars and participate in at least one technical society.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an accredited college with professional designation.
  • 8 years experience in transportation planning and/or engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of FDOT AASHTO and MUTCD design guidelines.
  • Certifications or has attended classes in Advanced Work Zone Traffic Control ADA/Accessibility for Highway Design FDOT Project Management Training FDOT PD&E Training Intersection Design/Channelization FDOT LAP Certification and FHWA CBT Certification.
  • Must possess sound judgement strong negotiating skills effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
