The Driver / Dispatch & Stores Assistant is responsible for the safe timely and hygienic transportation of food beverages equipment and event items from the commercial kitchen to outlets clients and event sites. The role also provides structured support to stores and dispatch operations when not on delivery duty ensuring that stock movement packing staging loading and vehicle readiness are managed efficiently.
Core Responsibilities
Safely transport prepared food beverages kitchen equipment and event supplies to designated delivery locations.
Ensure all deliveries are dispatched on time in full and in line with approved schedules or event timelines.
Load arrange and secure items properly to prevent spillage crushing shifting contamination or presentation damage during transport.
Check deliveries against dispatch notes transfer sheets invoices or event checklists before departure and at handover.
Obtain proof of delivery signed handover or other required confirmation for each completed delivery.
Maintain separation of hot food cold food dry goods chemicals and equipment during loading and transport.
Communicate delays access issues missing items vehicle breakdowns or other service risks immediately.
Stores responsibility
During periods with no active deliveries the role should remain aligned to logistics dispatch and stores support rather than general cooking duties. Typical responsibilities should include:
Assisting with receiving and offloading deliveries from suppliers.
Moving stock to the correct storage areas including dry store chiller freezer and dispatch zones.
Maintain required vehicle documents insurance details and inspection records as directed by management.
Track fuel usage and mileage where log sheets or reporting tools are in place.
Drive in full compliance with traffic laws and company safety procedures.
Requirements
KCSE certificate or equivalent.
Valid driving license with the appropriate class for the assigned vehicle. Class B and C
Clean driving record.
At least 3 years of professional driving experience preferably in hospitality catering food production FMCG or event logistics.
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safe food transport requirements.
Ability to read delivery notes stock transfer forms and basic dispatch documents.
Basic spoken and written English; Kiswahili proficiency is an added advantage.
Preferred Profile
Previous experience working for a catering company hotel restaurant group central kitchen or events operation.
Practical understanding of how to transport prepared food without compromising quality presentation or temperature.
Experience handling hot boxes gastronorm trays beverage dispensers cool boxes buffet equipment and fragile food items.
Physically fit and able to assist with loading offloading movement of stock or event equipment and able to carry at least 50kg.
Reliable calm disciplined and able to work early mornings evenings weekends or event-based schedules where necessary.
