Earlier this year we launched Guardian Studios our new creative hub for personality-led video. Created as part of a multi-year transformation programme Guardian Studios will strive to bring new audiences to the best of what the Guardian is by creating a slate of new video shows to launch on YouTube and other digital platforms.

We are now hiring anexecutive producer development (12 month FTC or internal staff secondment) to join the newly-launched team to help deliver this work and shape its future success. You will play a central role in spotting trends and talent developing new formats creating treatments and piloting plans helping ensure concepts stay true to our brand and connect with our diverse audience.

About the role

  • Lead idea generation concept development and early-stage production planning across new video shows.
  • Support the Head of Guardian Studios with implementing the Studios vision internally and work with both internal and external on-screen talent to create shows that build new and loyal audiences with diversity in mind.
  • Pitch and develop new audio-video formats with strong creative potential
  • Identify and secure exciting on-screen talent both internally and externally
  • Be across trends in the audio and video spaces and have a deep understanding of how to create shows for online audiences including YouTube-first content
  • Build strong relationships with agents contributors and rights holders
  • Generate ideas with genuine impact and scalability shaping them into viable formats (video series formats and video podcasts)

About you

  • Skilled in generating ideas shaping concepts and assessing feasibility
  • Enthusiastic about experimenting with new formats and audience engagement
  • Experience developing and launching new video audio or digital projects (ideally on YouTube)
  • Proven ability to identify develop and nurture on- and off-screen talent
  • Experience in YouTube video podcasting or journalism with a strong understanding of YouTube-first content
  • Strong understanding of news digital platforms social media YouTube and podcasts
  • Confident in developing pitches treatments and scripts
  • Collaborative leader with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering creative projects
  • Excellent editorial judgment and a strong sense of what resonates with diverse audiences
  • Collaborative inclusive and open in approach
  • Ideally youll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role

Youll have six weeks of annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase an additional 5 days. Our pension scheme is generous; if you contribute 5% then we will contribute 8-12% (depending on your age).
