Site Dental Director

Essential Duties and Major responsibilities:

DENTIST

â Provide direct service to patients

â Ensure that DPH OSHA and Dental Association regulations are strictly followed.

â Comply with departmental protocols

â Meet productivity standards

â Provide general dentistry

â Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care.

â Commitment to providing dental care to families in a medically under-served community.

â Willingness to be flexible in the development of new methods of dental services delivery.

â Ability to deal with sensitive information in a highly confidential manner.

â Effective communication skills both oral and written with patients families visitors co-workers health care professionals funders and other regulatory agencies.

â Ability to maintain quality safety and/or infection control standards.

â Awareness of resources available within the health center to accommodate the needs of patients. â Provides and manages direct patient care including physical examinations evaluations assessments diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.

â Prescribes pharmaceuticals other medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed conditions. â Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.

â Directs and coordinates the patient care activities.

â Performs quarterly chart audits.

â Completes staff reviews.

â Attend required meetings.

â Works closely with Director of Dental Operations.

â Responsible for training and orientation of all Dentists and Hygienists.

â Follows established departmental policies procedures and objectives continuous quality improvement â Ability to maintain quality safety and/or infection control standards.

â Effective verbal and written communication skills.

â Ability to supervise advise and train clinical professionals in area of expertise.

â Ability to work both independently and in a team

â Ability to work collaboratively with the Management Team

â Demonstrates understanding and commitment of the health center mission.

â Demonstrates understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards. â Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

â DDS or DMD from an accredited Dental School

If Limited Licensed must have a min. of 2 yrs. AEGD or GPR successfully completed residency program. â Licensed in Massachusetts to practice Dentistry.

â Minimum of three years professional experience

â Public Health experience preferred.

â CPR certified or equivalent

â Physical requirements include near visual acuity to observe changes in health/illness status of patients.

â Manual skills required include good eye and hand coordination in combination with finger dexterity for administration of injections treatments etc.

Supervision Exercised: Dentist Dental Assistants and Residents

Environmental Working Conditions:

Usual working environment found in outpatient primary care office setting. Exposure to blood products body fluids cleaning solutions and medications.

The environment is a normal office environment of a busy Community Health Center. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to saliva and blood borne pathogens. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high when using mechanical hand pieces. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job with a reasonable accommodation if legally disabled.
