2nd 3rd Line Support Engineer

Youll play a key role as they scale their South African technical team.

My client is building out their South African technical team and is looking for a highly capable 2nd / 3rd Line Support Engineer who enjoys owning complex problems endtoend.

This is not a ticketfactory role. Youll be the engineer people trust when issues become messy crossplatform or highrisk. Youll work across Microsoft cloud technologies networking servers and endpoints acting as the escalation point for more junior engineers and helping raise the technical standard of the team.

The environment is an MSP meaning realworld complexity multiple clients and constant technical variety. Youll troubleshoot authentication failures networking issues security incidents Conditional Access policies Intune deployments and hybrid infrastructure challenges often spotting patterns others miss.

Youll also mentor junior engineers guide rather than dictate and document solutions properly so the next person doesnt start from scratch. Autonomy judgement and technical integrity matter here.

Skills & Experience:
Experience in a 2nd or 3rd line IT support role (MSP experience strongly beneficial)
Strong troubleshooting ability across Microsoft 365 (Entra ID Intune Exchange Online SharePoint Defender Conditional Access)
Solid networking fundamentals: DNS DHCP TCP/IP routing firewall concepts
Windows Server administration experience (Active Directory Group Policy core services)
Endpoint support across Windows and macOS environments
Comfortable acting as an escalation point and mentoring junior engineers
Clear communication skills and the confidence to escalate when needed
Able to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote setup

Bonus exposure (not required):
Microsoft or CompTIA certifications
Experience with MSP tools RMM platforms or PSA systems

Qualification:
Matric / Grade 12 required
IT certifications or tertiary qualification advantageous but not essential
