The Team

The Municipal Data Stewardship team sits within the Global Markets Data Stewardship pillar of SPGIs Enterprise Data Organisation (EDO). The team is responsible for the authoritative stewardship of U.S. municipal bond datasets including reference data terms and conditions elections redemptions and related municipal attributes that support enterprise platforms analytics and clientfacing products.

The team focuses on data quality governance standardisation and lifecycle ownership working closely with Operations Product Technology Vendor Management and external data providers to ensure accuracy consistency regulatory alignment and longterm scalability across the municipal data ecosystem.

The team dynamic is collaborative detaildriven and solutionoriented combining deep municipal market knowledge with disciplined data stewardship practices to deliver trusted highquality municipal data at scale.

Responsibilities and Impact

• Steward and maintain authoritative municipal bond datasets ensuring accuracy completeness consistency and timeliness across the data lifecycle.
• Own and enforce municipal data definitions business rules and market conventions in alignment with enterprise data governance standards.
• Implement and oversee robust data quality QA and validation controls to identify discrepancies gaps and systemic issues.
• Perform rootcause analysis of data issues and drive sustainable remediation in collaboration with Operations Technology and Vendors.
• Partner closely with Product Business and Technology teams to translate municipal market requirements into governed reliable data solutions.
• Support vendor data onboarding enhancements and change management ensuring accurate feed mapping validation and controlled releases.
• Leverage analytical and automation tools to perform data analysis validation reconciliation and reporting improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.
• Contribute to municipal data modernisation initiatives including standardisation documentation uplift improved controls and readiness for advanced analytics and AIenabled use cases.
• Act as a municipal data subjectmatter expert (SME) supporting audits escalations client queries and internal governance reviews.
• Mentor junior data stewards and contribute to bestpractice sharing and continuous improvement across the stewardship organisation.

Basic Required Qualifications

Basic Key Qualifications

• Bachelors degree/Post Graduation in Finance Economics Accounting Business Data Management or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong experience in municipal bond data reference data or fixedincome data management.
• Solid understanding of U.S. municipal bond structures including issuers series CUSIPs elections redemptions and market conventions.
• Handson experience with data quality management validation QA/UAT and issue remediation.
• Experience working with multiple data sources and vendors including reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance concepts metadata and documentation practices.

Data & Tooling Proficiency

• Working knowledge of data analysis reporting and automation tools used in enterprise data environments.
• Ability to leverage tools such as Python SQL Excel or lowcode platforms (e.g. Power Platform).
• Comfortable using tooling to explore datasets identify anomalies validate business rules and improve operational efficiency without owning or developing enterprisescale engineering solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Technology teams by articulating logic requirements and expected outcomes informed by handson tool familiarity.
