Hotel Night Porter
Job Summary
Job Purpose
As a Night Porter at The De Trafford Arms you will be responsible for ensuring the safety security and comfort of our guests during overnight hours. You will support the smooth running of the hotel and pub while maintaining the high hospitality standards expected within the Chef & Brewer Collection.
The role requires a reliable and proactive individual who can assist guests prepare the venue for upcoming service maintain cleanliness across the property and ensure the premises remain safe and secure throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
- Provide a warm professional welcome to late-arriving hotel guests and assist with check-ins where required.
- Respond promptly to guest requests ensuring a high standard of hospitality at all times.
- Offer assistance with luggage directions or any overnight queries.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
Venue Preparation & Function Set-Up
- Set up and prepare the function room and pub areas for upcoming events meetings or breakfast service.
- Arrange furniture equipment and layout according to event specifications.
- Ensure all areas are clean organised and ready for daytime service.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Carry out nightly cleaning duties across the pub hotel public areas and function spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors surfaces and guest-accessible facilities.
- Ensure that all back-of-house and public areas meet brand cleanliness standards.
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards promptly.
Security & Safety
- Conduct regular security checks of the building entrances and surrounding areas.
- Ensure all doors windows and access points are secured overnight.
- Monitor for any unusual activity and follow company procedures when required.
- Ensure fire safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed.
Operational Support
- Assist with early morning preparations including breakfast area setup where required.
- Support the management team by completing required night audit or operational checklists.
- Ensure the venue is prepared for the next trading day.
Skills & Experience
- Previous hospitality or hotel experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities overnight.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Reliable trustworthy and attentive to detail.

Working Hours
- Overnight shifts typically between 11:00pm - 7:00am (may vary depending on business needs).
- Includes weekends and bank holidays.
