Associate Mechanical Designer
Job Summary
About the Role
As an Associate Mechanical Designer you will support the design and assessment of building mechanical systems while developing your engineering skills. This position involves working closely with senior engineers and designer to implement mechanical designs and gain exposure to cross-functional project teams. Key responsibilities include conducting research analyzing technical data and preparing documentation under the direction of senior staff. To be successful you must demonstrate technical aptitude a strong work-oriented mindset and a passion for continuous learning and professional growth. This role requires an in-office presence a minimum of 3 days per week.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing foundational heating and cooling load calculations and assisting in the evaluation of HVAC systems.
- Learning and applying standards for duct and pipe sizing to meet specific project requirements.
- Creating detailed 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in Autodesk Revit to reflect design specifications.
- Developing and optimizing internal calculators and spreadsheets to streamline engineering design processes.
- Liaising with equipment suppliers to gather technical data and learn about component selection and application
- Preparing draft technical reports design sketches and drawing mark-ups under the direction of senior staff.
- Coordinating multiple tasks across various projects to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Maintaining a proactive commitment to learning new industry codes software and engineering technologies.
- Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Technical Skills: Foundational understanding of thermodynamics fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
- A physics-first approach to problem-solving and a high level of technical curiosity.
- Academic or internship experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with formulas or logic for design tool development is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and team collaboration.
- Proven ability to engage in continuous learning and take initiative on assigned tasks.
- Requirements: Ability to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week and visit project sites as required.
