Subcontractor Administrator
Job Summary
The Subcontract Administrator is responsible for providing discipline-specific coordination and oversight in the administration of subcontracts for engineered equipment site work professional services and permanent plant materials. This role ensures effective management of subcontractor activities while collaborating closely with Project Procurement Project Controls Finance and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the discipline lead and subject matter expert overseeing a portfolio of subcontracts related to that discipline.
Manage the full lifecycle of subcontracts including engagement with suppliers vendors and service providers.
Lead planning activities related to subcontract administration to ensure alignment with project requirements timelines and objectives.
Act as the primary contact and accountable representative for subcontract administration within the assigned discipline.
Ensure subcontract handlers adhere to contractual requirements and support them in preparing and issuing contract-related correspondence.
Oversee the preparation evaluation and administration of change orders ensuring timely identification and management of claims.
Monitor subcontract payment provisions and approve progress payments in accordance with contractual and project guidelines.
Address and resolve subcontractor concerns grievances and claims within the discipline ensuring fair and timely outcomes.
Review subcontractor claims and contract documents to ensure compliance with project policies procedures and contractual obligations.
Uphold and reinforce subcontracting policies and procedures across the project team to ensure consistency and compliance.
Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Business Engineering Supply Chain Management Construction Management or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and/or construction will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of equipment materials and processes commonly used in DesignBuild projects.
- Solid knowledge of the Canadian construction industry including familiarity with the Ontario Construction Act.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines goals and project objectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and general knowledge of database systems.
- Detailoriented selfmotivated and able to prioritize effectively in a fastpaced environment.
