Job Summary

LESAFFRE Microbial Sciences team delivers to the Lesaffres Mission of Working together to better nourish and protect the planet. 

Our Approach: We build an international team of motivated risk-taking scientists and engineers to merge genetic biology engineering informatics to characterize the potential of our organisms and select the best one to fulfil a wide portfolio of application for different Lesaffre business in Health and Nutrition.

Our Scope: We develop assays at small scale link genotype and phenotype performance in order to select the best microorganism for industrial biotechnology applications including baking brewing bioethanol flavors and fragrances food and feed nutraceuticals pharmaceuticals. 

As our Research Associate focus on Microorganism Characterization your main responsibilities will be :

  • Developing and applying flow cytometry methods for the characterization of microorganisms
  • Design assay to screen the potential of our microorganisms in our industrial applications.
  • Developing and operating miniaturized cultures and/or assays at microtiter-plate scale for characterization and selection of Yeasts Bacteria and Fungi.
  • Working with engineers from other teams (fermentation downstream process...) and data scientists to ensure the technical quality.
  • Identifying improvements in group practices and protocols.
  • Training of technical team members to protocols workflows and best practices.
  • Ability to work on several projects in parallel.


 


Qualifications :

Mandatory :

  • Engineer with 2 years of experience in biology cell biology biochemistry fermentation or equivalent.
  • Skills in flow cytometry
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in an international team. 
  • Ability to work in matrix organization.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Prefered :

  • Broad competences with diverse microorganisms (yeast bacteria fungi)
  • 2-year industry research experience in biotechnology phenotyping assay development
  • Experience with programming software (R Python for example).
  • Experience with Attune NxT flow cytometry
