Summary

To maintain a system that is capable of meeting Voiths Directive on System Management of Technical Risks and Quality and to ensure Voith maintains the highest quality Forming Fabrics in the market so that Voiths Quality System continues to meet the requirements of ISO.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety/quality principles and guidelines.
  • Perform operations according to written work instructions.
  • Provide Quality data to organization.
    • Must understand the manufacturing parameters critical to quality.
    • Collect and analyze data to ensure problem identification root cause analysis proper continuous improvement projects and process / product verifications.
    • Exercise authority in determining whether the manufacturing process will be halted when it appears to not be functioning properly.
    • Approve all incoming raw material (monofilament) through review of vendor certificates of conformance (COCs).
    • Coordinate PMP and calibration systems at regular intervals and ensure that the Quality Assurance Lab environment including all testing equipment is properly maintained.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Operations Safety Technical R&D and Sales Groups as well as a member of various functional groups as required (SOP COQ etc.)
    • Properly maintain all files and records kept by Quality Assurance.
    • Generate fabric specification sheets and various other reports as required.
    • Assist with document control as required including routine checks of blank form distribution points distribution of work instructions and specifications etc.
    • React quickly to supplier issues and customer complaints and follow up with corrective actions where applicable.
    • Assist in performing routine tests on returned fabrics and competitor samples.
    • Assist support and facilitate Process Improvement Teams where required.
  • Establish and maintain systems to monitor Voiths products and process capabilities to satisfy our customers needs and expectations.
    • Determine if test results are within specification and monitor each product history for trends.
      • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
      • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
      • Capability Index (CP)
    • Bring all out-of-specification results to the attention of Operations such as Manufacturing Plant Manager Technical R&D and the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Represent Voith at the intercompany level with regards to Quality Systems and their functions.
    • Implement the necessary systems to comply with Voiths Directive on System Management of Technical Risks and Quality.
    • Continually update Voiths Quality System via annual assessment (internal audits) of it in its entirety.
    • Ensure continuous adherence to Voiths Total Quality Commitment throughout all levels of the company.
    • Exercise authority in ensuring the continuous development and registration of Voiths ISO Quality System.

Requirements

  • Proficient undergraduate level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing and able to learn on-the-job tasks plus supervisory skills where needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Minitab and must be willing to learn our in-house fabric specific software.

Education and Experience:

  • Be on a course of study for Associates Bachelors or Masters degree in one of the following disciplines: Textiles Engineering (Chemical Paper Science Mechanical Electrical Automation Robotics Mechatronics) Process and/or Quality Engineering.

Mobility Requirements:

  • There will be a need to work in office laboratory and factory floor locations so a certain degree of mobility is needed.
  • There may be need to visit clients paper making sites with our forming fabric application engineers and this will require a higher degree of mobility.
  • Additionally there may be need to visit our material suppliers sites for auditing to ensure optimal quality assurance.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer balanced with doing quality testing and working safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must wear gloves or hand protection when cutting fabrics and use ear protection around looms or in other noisy environments.
