Job Summary

Investment Analyst/Associate in the Investment Office (Ref: 534959)

We are seeking an Investment Analyst/Associate to join the Investment Office to support the investment strategy and operational functions.

The Role

The appointee will be a generalist who supports the investment team in managing a diversified portfolio across multiple asset classes covering public and private investments. He/she will conduct research perform due diligence on managers analyse portfolio performance and assist in investment operations. Key responsibilities include:

1. Macro and Thematic Research

  • Assist in research and analysis on asset classes strategies themes and sectors;
  • Support the investment team in developing and reviewing asset allocation and portfolio construction strategies;
  • Help prepare investment summaries market updates and portfolio analyses for internal use.

2. Manager Due Diligence

  • Assist in landscaping studies through databases (e.g. eVestment CA Optica) industry networks and manager meetings to identify potential investment opportunities;
  • Conduct initial desktop research by analysing track records DDQs and other materials to form initial investment thesis and identify key diligence areas;
  • Participate in due diligence meetings draft investment memos and contribute to investment discussions.

3. Quantitative and Risk Analysis

  • Assist in quantitative and risk analysis to support investment decisions;
  • Help maintain and update quantitative models for capital market and asset class analysis;
  • Support cross-asset correlation studies and risk decomposition analysis;
  • Assist in factor and risk analysis across portfolio holdings and strategies.

4. Portfolio Monitoring

  • Monitor the performance and development of existing managers by reviewing fund reports financial statements and meeting managers;
  • Provide regular updates to the investment team and support on-going portfolio optimization.

5. Support Operational Functions

  • Collaborate with the investment operations team to ensure efficient execution of trades subscriptions and redemptions;
  • Liaise with external and internal legal counsel to process legal documents such as application forms side letters and NDAs;
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • Bachelors degree in finance accounting economics or a related field; an advanced degree or CFA designation is preferred;
  • 2-4 years of experience in portfolio management or investment operations preferably within an endowment foundation pension fund or asset management firm;
  • Good knowledge of private and public market investments including operational nuances of capital calls distributions and fund structures;
  • Familiarity with portfolio management systems performance reporting tools and data management processes;
  • Familiarity with compliance and legal guidelines in institutional investment settings;
  • Excellent analytical organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment;
  • Proficiency in systems such as Bloomberg eFront or similar portfolio management tools; and
  • Knowledge of financial and investment reporting standards (e.g. GIPS compliance).

Applicants with less experience may be considered for the position of Investment Analyst.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
