Project Accountant (Construction)

Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting DA Everett Construction Group an award-winning construction management and general contracting firm in the search for a Commercial Construction Project Accountant.

The Project Accountant will support the companys Raleigh and Charlotte offices and will bring proven success of working in a fast-paced highly motivated environment while managing various deadlines and a dedication to service to clients and project management. The Project Accountant will hold team members accountable to meet monthly targets and due dates. This person will have a positive can do attitude a strong drive to achieve results and a strong work ethic.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

The Project Accountant will serve as the primary accounting and administrative support for the office and project teams. This role will act as the liaison between project teams and the finance department ensuring all accounting procedures are followed by project teams. Performs processes related to contracts bonds insurance payables liens billings releases cost/budget reports for the project management team and finance department.

Daily Functions

• Provides information to appropriate people regarding project status and communicates between the project teams and finance department.
• Ensures job cost reports and accounts receivable reports are accurate at all times and in balance with the general ledger.
• Understands the nature of the accounting systems and the information processed. Bring issues to the attention of the finance department and the project manager for assistance and further evaluation.
• Process A/R and take deposits to the bank.
• Process miscellaneous invoices and ensure proper support and approval. Enter credit card receipts and reconcile credit card statements.
• Enters all financial paperwork into the accounting system to ensure timely and accurate accounting information. This includes owner billings cost transfers budget transfers subcontractor pay requirements and A/P invoices.
• Processes subcontractor monthly pay requisitions and ensures all supporting attachments are correct and follows up with subcontractors to obtain any missing documents so subcontractors are paid on time.
• Set up new vendors and subcontractors. Verify and maintain all subcontractors have current insurance certificates and executed contract prior to the subcontractor starting work.
• Performs various administrative tasks for the office including but not limited to: handling incoming and outgoing mail overnight mail maintaining office cafe area purchasing office supplies general office management order food and drinks for meetings answering telephone if needed filing scanning etc.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of construction experience with high volume fast paced construction accounting environment and working knowledge of computerized Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable System; Sage 100 and Procore required

Knowledge Skills Abilities

• Construction knowledge in accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Knowledge of Subcontractor Pay Apps and SOVs
• General knowledge of contracts insurance and lien releases
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word and Excel; including good data entry skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to coordinate and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Self-starter able to work within a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and oral communications
• High School diploma or equivalent
