Engr III Spec-Data Science

The Data AI and Analytics Organization is an exciting center of excellence supporting all of Verizon as a part of the Transformation Office. Our team will be a catalyst to Verizons future in creating Experiences helping the customers and Agents.

Youll work closely with a team of Business Stakeholders Data scientists Big data engineers and Software developers and play a key role in developing and delivering the solutions that generate substantial value for the business.

What youll be doing...

Provides support for implementing processes and layouts for complex large-scale data sets used for modeling data mining and research purposes. Supports the building of large and complex data sets from spurious sources while thinking strategically about uses of data and how data use interacts with data design. Provides support to generate hypotheses and create analytical models that answer impactful business questions.

Responsibilities include:

• Meet with the business clients to gather solutions requests and data requirements to provide feedback to the data science team.

• Implement processes and layouts as instructed by the data science team for complex data sets used for modeling data mining and research purposes.

• Build and implement data sets as instructed by the data science team updating and making adjustments where necessary.

• Implement statistical data quality procedures around new data sources.

• Perform data validation tests and updating procedures to ensure models are successfully implemented.

• Create reports and visualizations based on the results of the models to share with the business clients.

• Monitor the developed data models and systems identifying any possible issues that need to be resolved.

Developing resolutions to complex problems using your sharp judgment to develop methods techniques and evaluation criteria allows you to deliver solutions that make a huge impact. Youre able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and you take pride in your ability to share your considerable knowledge with your peers.

Youll need to have:

• Bachelors degree or three or more years of work experience.

• Three or more years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in Data management analysis and visualization.

• Experience in Looker & Qlik or similar visual analysis tool optimization analytics and large data sets project management developing visually compelling interactive dashboards.

• Experience as a data scientist analyst or statistical modeler.

• Experience with programming language SQL

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Experience data modeling using the Looker / LookML platform

• Experience in visual science / dashboard design principles.

• Experience in applying statistical ideas and methods to data sets to answer business problems.

• Knowledge of third-party analytic tools.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform.

• A passion for educating and communicating analytic findings and insights with integrity to all levels: from going over raw output with colleagues to creating PowerPoint presentations and storyboards that captivate and succinctly convey complex ideas to our strategic business partners.
