ROLE SUMMARY

The Chinese Young Adult Pastor prayerfully establishes grows and shepherds the young adult and youth ministry of Epicentre Chinese by multiplying disciples raising up leaders and providing pastoral care and covering. This role uniquely serves young adults who are navigating identity vocation relationships and faith within a bicultural context honoring their Chinese heritage while engaging the realities of young adult life in Southern California.

DESIRED OUTCOMES

Discipleship Shepherding and Leadership Development

• Establish and grow the Chinese young adult and youth ministry through outreach discipleship and Lifegroups
• Disciple and raise up leaders who multiply disciples
• Invest in individuals and families through pastoral care prayer and teaching
• Equip and empower congregation members volunteers and leaders through apprenticeship and life-giving coaching
• Collaborate with the Lead Pastors and Family Pastor to create and administer a Chinese Discipleship School

Preaching and Teaching

• Preach regularly at Epicentre Chinese Sunday services (approximately 18-25 times per year)
• Collaborate with the Lead Pastors on preaching calendar and series planning
• Develop and lead topical workshops addressing the spiritual cultural and practical needs of Chinese young adults

Chinese Young Adult-Specific Ministry

• Provide bilingual (Mandarin/English) pastoral leadership including preaching teaching Lifegroups and pastoral care tailored to Chinese-speaking young adults
• Walk alongside young adults navigating bicultural identity vocation singleness relationships and early career decisions
• Develop discipleship pathways for the unique spiritual and cultural formation needs of Chinese young adults including first-generation and international students
• Build relational bridges between Chinese-speaking young adults and the broader Epicentre body

Outreach Missions and Church Incorporation

• Facilitate a clear connected pathway for outsiders to become active members of Epicentre Chinese in collaboration with the pastoral and leadership team
• Organize outreach events that create inviting on-ramps for unchurched or seeking Chinese young adults
• Mobilize congregation members toward local and global missions in partnership with the IM department and Antioch Movement
• Co-lead and participate in short-term mission trip outreaches on an every-other-year basis

Sunday Services Communications and Ministry Operations

• Oversee Sunday service set-up and operations including sound audio and video systems
• Lead regular ministry gatherings including Alpha Lifegroups prayer meetings outreach events and key events (baptisms retreats conferences)
• Ensure smooth safe and welcoming environments for all services and ministry gatherings
• Create and manage church communications and promotional materials including presentation slides social media content and YouTube channel
• Support the visibility and outreach of Epicentre Chinese through digital and print media
• Manage administration budget and logistics for the Chinese Young Adult ministry

Pastoral Support and Church Leadership

• Participate in Chinese congregation staff meetings prayer meetings retreats and conferences
• Contribute to the Chinese congregation pastoral team and Lifegroups leadership
• Support congregation-wide needs including Sunday services weddings funerals and hospital visits
• Carry and champion Epicentres vision

• Competency: Ability to equip and disciple others in a bilingual cross-cultural context. Pastoral teaching and leadership skills. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English. Comfortable with AV/tech systems and digital communications.
• Capacity: Healthy rhythms and availability to sustain ministry responsibilities including evening and weekend gatherings common for young adult ministry.
• Convictions: Alignment with Epicentres Identity Mission Vision Ministry Philosophy the Five Circles and Statement of Faith.
• Chemistry: Collaborative relational and able to build unity across cultures and generations with staff leaders and the congregation.

Training and Education
- Completion of or commitment to Epicentre/Antioch Discipleship School
- Completion of or commitment to Antioch US Leadership Track (within 5 years)
- Bachelors degree seminary or equivalent pastoral training preferred
- Prior ministry leadership experience strongly desired
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken) required
- Experience in young adult campus or cross-cultural ministry contexts strongly preferred
- Understanding of bicultural identity formation and Chinese young adult dynamics is a strong plus
