Apple & Windows Operating Systems Lead

The Apple & Windows Operating System Lead is responsible for the administration maintenance and optimization of enterprise Windows Server and Apple (Mac) environments supporting the NRC High Performance Computing System (HPCS). This role ensures system reliability security compliance and operational efficiency across hybrid infrastructure environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• 8 years of experience inWindows Server administration
• Experience supportingApple/Mac enterprise environments
• Strong knowledge of:
• Active Directory Group Policy
• Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
• Endpoint management tools
• Experience withcloud environments (e.g. AWS GovCloud Azure)
• Familiarity withFISMA NIST security controls and federal IT compliance frameworks
• Strong troubleshooting and system optimization skills

Education

• Bachelors degree in IT Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Clearance

• Must be able to obtain and maintain an NRC security clearance (Public Trust or higher).

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (e.g.MCSA MCSE Azure Administrator)
• Apple certifications (e.g.ACSP Jamf certifications)
• Experience in federal or regulated environments
• Experience supportingHPC or scientific computing environments

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintainWindows Server (cloud/on-prem)andMac OS environments
• Install configure patch and upgrade operating systems and enterprise applications
• ManageActive Directory integration group policies and user accounts
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues
• Implement and maintainsystem security controls in compliance with FISMA standards
• Perform system backups recovery and continuity operations
• Coordinate with network teams forLAN/VLAN connectivity and firewall configurations
• Maintain system documentation configuration baselines and asset inventory
• Supportcontinuous monitoring vulnerability remediation and POA&M activities
• Evaluate and recommend hardware/software solutions
• Provide Tier II/III support to users and stakeholders
• Participate in change control processes and system upgrades

Deliverables & Expectations

• Monthly status and asset reporting
• Participation in system health reviews and change control boards
• Continuous improvement and modernization of systems
• Maintain high availability and operational readiness of HPCS systems
