Description

SDU Biotechnology (BIOTECH) at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for one position as associate professor in Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research falling within or in synergy with the following areas at BIOTECH related to one or more of the following research fields:

  • Bioimaging
  • Medical Biotechnology
  • Cancer cell biology
  • Immunotherapy and cell engineering

Experience in one or more of the above area is therefore highly valued for this position. The successful candidate is expected to initiate and obtain funding for competitive research activities. Dedication and experience with teaching within project management and innovation and biotechnology at both the undergraduate and graduate level is also expected. The position thus holds a high level of responsibility but also comes with an opportunity to influence be part of and conduct research and education to the highest international level

Qualifications

The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent in either Biomedical Engineering Biotechnology or closely related discipline relevant to this addition some years of experience as a assistant professor is expected.

The candidate should have experience within:

  • Research in Biomedical Engineering (see above for details)
  • Translational research aimed at clinical evaluation
  • Teaching in Biomedical Engineering biotechnology or related areas.
  • Collaborating with companies/industry and/or hospitals.

We especially encourage candidates with experience in international collaboration an interdisciplinary mind-set and experience in innovation and translational research to apply.

BIOTECH is part of the Department of Green Technology (IGT) at the Faculty of Engineering at SDU. The department is a nice workplace with focus on good collaborations across the department. information

Salary and Condition of employment

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.

Assessment process

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicants qualifications the applicant may be called for interview.

Conditions of employment

Appointment as an associate professor is permanent and the preferred start date is from August 1st 2026.

Employment as an associate professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level as well as scientific and teaching qualificationscommensurate with the position as an associate will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state including the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for associate professor as described therein.Further information on salary and employed in the position may based on a specific individual managerial assessment be exempted from time registration also known as a self-organizer.
