CBC is looking for a creative and resourceful Producer to plan organize and execute video projects with a focus on expanding how CBC works with digital video creators. Working under the supervision of the Executive Producer Creator & Video Strategy the successful candidate will join a diverse and vibrant team focused on growing our footprint in the creator economy.

This is a 12-month contract.

Your role

In this role youll oversee the acquisition and production of digital videos working with creators to share and create content across different platforms from social to streaming. You will work closely with content teams across the CBC but also at times independently to bring an aesthetic eye and creative sensibilities to short- and mid-form content.

The ideal candidate will have a background in video production creative storytelling and digital video publishing and know whats happening in the world of digital platforms like YouTube Instagram and Tiktok. Theyll also be able to leverage strong familiarity with and relationships in the creator community to cast and vet new creators who align with CBCs mandate. The ability to successfully communicate pitches both internally and externally with creators is vital. Organization and relationship building will be an important aspect of the role as the successful candidate will manage CBCs creator talent database and check in on the creator work happening across the Entertainment Factual and Sports divisions. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment enjoys collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and is a strong advocate for inclusion in their work.

Key tasks:

  • Identify new video creators of interest to content teams across a wide variety of genres (arts comedy kids lifestyle music sports).

  • Acquire and commission content from Canadian digital video creators to share across CBCs publishing platforms.

  • Creator communications: from outreach and casting to contracting and commissioning.

  • Vet creator content to align with CBCs mandate and optimize digital videos for YouTube Instagram and Tiktok as well as CBC owned and operated platforms.

  • Work alongside creators to produce original video content that aligns with CBCs mandate.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate work with Canadian content creators.

  • Maintain a database of creators across our content teams.

  • Stay up to date on the Canadian creator landscape.

  • Develop and strengthen CBCs relationship with Canadian digital video creators.

  • Assist with aspects of digital publishing including re-packaging or re-formatting creating social edits and finalizing graphics deliverables.

As required performs the following tasks:

  • perform final edit and necessary paperwork/reports.

  • direct talent sound and/or image;

  • ensure in collaboration with Copyright Clearance Officers or others the proper and accurate clearance of all material.

  • arrange for and conduct interviews.

  • provide talent and crew with feedback to assist their performance.

  • conceive and develop ideas and concepts for video series.

  • develop specific story ideas and pieces including the researching writing and/or editing of video material.

You possess:

  • A university or equivalent experience along with five or more years of experience in related work.

  • Direct experience creating digital video content for YouTube Instagram TikTok or other digital and social platforms.

  • A calm-under-pressure attitude and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Basic video editing and packaging abilities are an asset.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime (when required).
