UXUI Designer 12 Month FTC
Job Summary
Were looking for a UX/UI Designer to join our eCommerce UX team on a 12 month FTC. Based from NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire!
The Role:
As a UX/UI Designer within our Growth Squad youll be at the heart of shaping how millions of customers interact with our Home department our European platforms and iconic partner brands like Laura Ashley Made and Gap.
Your goal is to bridge the gap between stunning visual design and effortless functionality making sure our websites and apps are as intuitive as they are captivating.
Youll be a key part of our eCommerce UX team collaborating closely with trade and data experts to turn customer insights into reality. At NEXT well support your transition into the team with hands-on exposure to our design systems and dedicated time to understand our unique customer journeys ensuring you have everything you need to make an impact from day one.
What Youll Take On:
- Design for real people: Identify user pain points and design elegant solutions by creating user flows wireframes and interactive prototypes.
- Champion the brand: Build intuitive visually appealing interfaces that align with brand guidelines while maintaining our UI component libraries.
- Validate through research: Conduct user research and usability testing to verify designs ensuring we never make assumptions about what our customers need.
- Analyse the market: Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring competitors and identifying opportunities to evolve our digital experience.
- Ensure quality: Regularly review our sites and apps from a customers perspective identifying friction points and logging bugs to ensure a seamless journey.
- Collaborate and communicate: Work alongside product teams and stakeholders to prioritise ideas presenting your findings and concepts with clarity and purpose.
What Youll Bring:
- Design expertise: A strong background in both UX and UI design with a portfolio that shows how you solve complex problems through design.
- Technical proficiency: High proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma. Ability to create rapid prototypes using Figma or similar tools that demonstrate micro interactions and user journeys. Experience working with design systems alongside a strong understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- A customer-first mindset: A genuine passion for user-centred design and the empathy required to understand what makes a journey feel effortless.
- Adaptability: The ability to work at pace in a fast-moving retail environment managing multiple projects without losing your eye for detail.
- Great communication: A collaborative spirit with the confidence to present your ideas to stakeholders and explain the why behind your designs.
- Analytical thinking: The curiosity to dig into data and research findings to find the best way forward for our users.
- Initiative: The ability to take full ownership of a project from initial concept to final go-live driving progress independently at a high pace while maintaining a proactive collaborative loop with multiple stakeholders to ensure constant alignment.
