As Product Counsel Safety you will act as a key advisor and first point of legal contact to support our product engineering and other teams in building the future of the Roblox platform. Our mission as Product Counsel is to become product experts and to provide thoughtful and effective legal advice to help our business teams succeed. To accomplish this we work closely with other members of the legal team and collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional teams to identify risks while maintaining a keen sense of business judgment.

This role is dedicated to providing strategic legal advice to internal product and engineering teams primarily focused on Safety. The role requires application of complex evolving legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services. You will report to Senior Product Counsel Safety at our San Mateo offices.

You will:

• Act as a trusted advisor to Roblox Safety product engineering and operations teams as well as company leadership throughout the product and process development lifecycle to ensure healthy product launches.
• Ensure compliance with US and international laws and regulations including those concerning online safety and consumer protection.
• Coordinate advice with cross-functional stakeholders including product marketing policy and other internal and external legal counsel.
• Stay on top of the latest developments in a fast-changing legal landscape and develop deep expertise in Robloxs products.
• Build positive and influential relationships company-wide through trusted advising knowledge-sharing and training.

You have:

• 5 years of relevant legal experience preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a consumer-facing technology company.
• Previous experience counseling on online safety and child safety regulations
• Strong business-oriented judgment and the ability to analyze problems propose solutions and provide advice that is creative practical and legally acceptable taking into account the needs and objectives of the business.
• Understand the letter of the law and can approach problems in a practical principled approach.
• The ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively investigating and identifying issues.
• The desire to work on a small but growing team and a track record of collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to overcome complex challenges.
• A license to practice law in a US jurisdiction.
