About the Role
The Government of Alberta is seeking aData Analyst to support digital transformation and service innovation initiatives within the Digital Design and Delivery (3D) division.
This role combinesdata engineering and data analytics requiring expertise in building data pipelines performing analysis and delivering actionable insights to support business decisions.
You will work incross-functional agile teams contributing to program reviews and digital product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering:
Design develop and maintain scalable data pipelines (on-premises & cloud)
Perform ETL processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory
Ensure data quality integrity security and governance
Manage data lakes warehouses and large datasets
Optimize and improve existing data workflows
Deploy data solutions using SQL/NoSQL and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
Data Analytics:
Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends and insights
Develop reports dashboards and visualizations (Power BI Tableau Python)
Conduct statistical analysis and data modeling
Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Build performance dashboards and service metrics
Support data-driven decision-making across projects
Must-Have Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field
Experience:
5 years as a Data Analyst and/or Data Engineer
5 years working with data extraction from on-premises and cloud sources
3 years designing dimensional models (star & snowflake schemas)
3 years developing dashboards & reports (Power BI Tableau DAX Python)
3 years ensuring data quality governance and security
3 years with SSIS Azure Data Factory (ADF) and APIs integration
2 years performing data migrations (on-prem to cloud / cross-database)
2 years using Git CI/CD pipelines Docker/Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with advanced analytics (predictive modeling data mining)
Experience in Government of Alberta or similar large environments
Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks
Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (Python etc.)
Experience with AI/ML or NLP
Work Environment & Additional Information
Primarily remote within Canada with occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton
Some travel within Alberta may be required
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada
Security clearance and background checks may be required
