Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant Billing & Accounts Receivable is responsible for ensuring the accuracy completeness and timeliness of billing processes and cash collection activities. This role safeguards revenue recognition strengthens cash flow and ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls while driving continuous improvement across the AR cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Billing & Invoicing Management

  • Oversee end-to-end billing processes ensuring accurate and timely invoice generation.

  • Validate billing data against contracts pricing agreements and operational inputs.

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Resolve billing discrepancies in coordination with commercial operations and finance teams.

Accounts Receivable & Collections

  • Monitor AR aging and drive timely collection of outstanding balances.

  • Lead collection efforts including follow-ups dispute resolution and escalation management.

  • Analyze customer payment behavior and recommend strategies to reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

  • Maintain accurate customer account balances and ensure proper application of cash receipts.

Reconciliations & Financial Integrity

  • Perform AR reconciliations and ensure alignment between subledger and general ledger.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to billing payments and customer accounts.

  • Support month-end close activities related to revenue and receivables.

Controls Compliance & Audit

  • Execute and monitor internal controls over billing and AR processes.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies contractual terms and regulatory requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits providing documentation and explanations as needed.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to revenue leakage and billing inaccuracies.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy streamline invoicing and enhance collection processes.

  • Drive automation and standardization initiatives within AR and billing workflows.

  • Leverage tools such as Excel SAP and Power BI to monitor performance and generate insights.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with commercial operations and customer service teams to resolve disputes and improve billing accuracy.

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate efficient collections and issue resolution.

Leadership & Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert in billing and AR processes.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and AR specialists.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects to improve end-to-end order-to-cash processes.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting with strong exposure to Billing and Accounts Receivable

  • 1 - 2 years of experience with a large ERP system SAP is highly preferred

  • Experience with data tools (Excel Power BI)

  • Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles (US GAAP / IFRS)

  • CPA is preferred
