Part-Time Faculty Counselor Education, Academic Year

The University of Southern Maines Counselor Education Departmentinvites applications for part-time faculty.Part-time faculty members would primarily support courses in clinical supervision group counseling professional issues in mental health counseling crisis intervention multicultural counseling human development and other areas essential to students professional counseling preparation and are aligned with programmatic and accreditation expectations.

We are seeking student-focused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. The instructor is responsible for responding to student course inquiries through electronic mail phone call or in-person and posting final grades in a timely manner. The course sections and modalities will be determined by the department chair in collaboration with the part-time faculty.

TheUSM Counselor Education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses within the Counselor Education program.

The philosophy of the Counselor Education department is to prepare our graduates to act as facilitators of change in the lives of individuals at all developmental levels. By modeling high standards of professionalism and ethics with the profession and offering a foundation of knowledge skills self-awareness and practice the Counselor Education program aspires to prepare counselors of the highest quality to work in schools mental health agencies businesses hospitals rehabilitation organizations private practice and other settings.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience as determined by the Part-Time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) an affiliate of the national American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union. Required Qualifications:

• An earned Masters in Counseling
• Active clinical licensure (LCPC LMFT LCSW or Licensed Psychologist)
• Previous experience in teaching or training
• Demonstrated knowledge of child and adult development
