Job Summary

The Assistant Administrator serves as a member of the hospitals senior management team and participates in operational decision-making processes to support the organizations mission and goals. This role oversees assigned ancillary departments assists with organizational initiatives and develops competency in hospital operations as part of a leadership development pathway. The Assistant Administrator contributes to patient care quality physician and employee engagement financial stewardship and overall hospital performance while preparing for progressive leadership responsibilities. The position serves as part of the leadership development program and will require future relocation to prepare for advancement within the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees assigned hospital departments ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and standards of performance.
  • Participates in operational decision-making processes reviews and performance improvement activities.
  • Assists with organizational initiatives that improve patient satisfaction physician engagement and employee experience.
  • Monitors departmental performance and prepares reports to support data-driven decision making.
  • Supports the development review and approval of vendor and provider contracts in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Collaborates with financial and nursing leaders to identify opportunities to reduce non-value costs while maintaining quality of care.
  • Assists in the planning promotion and implementation of quality and service improvement projects.
  • Develops knowledge of hospital operations including internal processes and the organizations role in the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Provides leadership mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
    • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with leadership on any potential staffing issues.
    • Conducts performance evaluations sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Collaborates with hospital leadership to set the strategic direction for the department including budgeting resource allocation and long-term planning.
    • Monitors expenditures ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
    • Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
    • Participates in audits inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy consistency and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements new technologies and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration or related field required
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) Healthcare Administration (MHA) or related field required
  • 3-5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience overseeing hospital operations departments.
