Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform complex accounting functions and financial analysis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of financial statements supporting month-end close processes and delivering meaningful financial insights to leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills advanced accounting knowledge and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Compile and analyze complex financial data to prepare journal entries and upload to the general ledger
- Support consolidation of business units including elimination entries
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and transactions
- Prepare financial reports including balance sheets income statements and other key reports
- Perform variance analysis and communicate findings to management
- Identify trends and provide actionable financial insights for decision-making
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Support and manage month-end close activities
- Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff
- Reconcile complex general ledger accounts with bank statements and sub-ledgers
- Investigate discrepancies and report material variances
- Approve account reconciliations completed by team members
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Support various financial areas such as supply chain lab pharmacy leases debt and joint ventures
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting deadlines
- Identify and communicate accounting discrepancies or compliance issues
- Recommend improvements to accounting systems processes and internal controls
- Participate in cross-functional and complex financial projects
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams across the organization
- Provide training mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff
- Present financial information and insights to stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and departmental goals
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting
- 57 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
- Advanced analytical and variance analysis skills
- Experience working with ERP systems and Business Intelligence tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUP macros)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with EPIC (Cash Reconciliation)
- Experience with Lawson or BlackLine systems
- Prior experience in healthcare or large enterprise environments
