A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform complex accounting functions and financial analysis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of financial statements supporting month-end close processes and delivering meaningful financial insights to leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills advanced accounting knowledge and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Compile and analyze complex financial data to prepare journal entries and upload to the general ledger
Support consolidation of business units including elimination entries
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and transactions
Prepare financial reports including balance sheets income statements and other key reports
Perform variance analysis and communicate findings to management
Identify trends and provide actionable financial insights for decision-making
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
Support and manage month-end close activities
Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff
Reconcile complex general ledger accounts with bank statements and sub-ledgers
Investigate discrepancies and report material variances
Approve account reconciliations completed by team members
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts
Support various financial areas such as supply chain lab pharmacy leases debt and joint ventures
Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting deadlines
Identify and communicate accounting discrepancies or compliance issues
Recommend improvements to accounting systems processes and internal controls
Participate in cross-functional and complex financial projects
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams across the organization
Provide training mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff
Present financial information and insights to stakeholders
Support continuous improvement initiatives and departmental goals
Required Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting
57 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
Advanced analytical and variance analysis skills
Experience working with ERP systems and Business Intelligence tools
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUP macros)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have
Experience with EPIC (Cash Reconciliation)
Experience with Lawson or BlackLine systems
Prior experience in healthcare or large enterprise environments
