MALTAs mission is to improve developer efficiency and operational excellence by providing fundamental infrastructure shared libraries test and automation tooling while accelerating organizational velocity across mobile engineering.

Get to Know the Role

As a Lead iOS engineer in the MALTA (Mobile App Libraries Test and Automation) team you will lead the end-to-end delivery of high-impact iOS platform initiatives that power Grabs mobile experience at scale. You will design and own scalable maintainable iOS components in Swift shape our UI automation and testing strategy and strengthen CI/CD pipelines so that engineers across Grab can ship high-quality features quickly and confidently.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager II Mobile

The Critical Tasks you will perform 

• Lead end-to-end delivery of high-impact iOS initiatives from technical discovery to production rollout.
• Own architecture and implementation of scalable maintainable iOS components in Swift.
• Drive iOS UI automation strategy including reusable test foundations and long-term test maintainability.
• Improve CI/CD reliability for iOS by optimizing pipeline health test distribution and failure triage.
• Partner with product design backend and platform teams to shape practical technically sound solutions.
• Raise release quality by reducing flaky tests improving local/CI parity and tightening pre-merge quality gates.
• Make dependency and tooling decisions that keep the platform modern and stable across iOS and Xcode upgrades.
• Lead engineering execution during incidents or delivery blockers restoring momentum quickly and safely.
• Set high standards through code reviews design reviews and clear technical ownership.
• Mentor engineers through documentation paved-road workflows and hands-on technical guidance.

Qualifications :

• 8 years of software engineering experience with deep hands-on iOS development expertise.
• Strong proficiency in Swift Xcode and iOS app architecture for large-scale codebases.
• Proven experience building and maintaining iOS UI/component test frameworks (XCTest and related tooling).
• Strong CI/CD experience for mobile apps (GitLab pipelines test orchestration and build/test optimization).
• Solid understanding of modular design code quality practices and long-term maintainability.
• Excellent debugging and root-cause analysis skills across app test and build systems.
• Experience driving dependency and platform/tooling upgrades with minimal team disruption.
• Ability to balance feature velocity with engineering quality and release stability.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated technical leadership ownership and mentorship in a fast-moving engineering environment.
• Experience with Android development and test tools is a plus
