Job Summary
The Opportunity Lincoln is a city where historic heritage meets a rapidly growing tech and engineering sector providing a brilliant backdrop for a Computer Science specialist. We are seeking a forward-thinking teacher to join our Academy and equip students with the digital fluency required for the modern world. This role involves teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 moving students beyond basic IT literacy toward a deep understanding of computational logic software development and hardware architecture.
The Department
You will be based in a modern computing hub featuring high-spec PC suites Raspberry Pi kits and dedicated robotics equipment.
The department utilizes a streamlined digital curriculum allowing for consistent lesson delivery while leaving room for individual creative projects.
Our technical support team is highly responsive ensuring that software updates and network requirements for coding environments are handled seamlessly.
We actively participate in the Bebras Computing Challenge and have strong links with the University of Lincolns School of Computer Science for guest lectures and workshops.
Core Responsibilities
Planning and delivering lessons that demystify complex topics such as data encryption network topologies and the Fetch-Execute cycle.
Cultivating strong programming skills primarily in Python by guiding students through logical structures subroutines and error handling.
Preparing Year 11 cohorts for GCSE Computer Science focusing on rigorous preparation for both the Computer Systems and Computational Thinking papers.
Integrating physical computing and unplugged activities to make abstract logic tangible and engaging for younger year groups.
Leading discussions on the societal impact of technology including data privacy cybersecurity and the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for an educator who is as passionate about how it works as they are about what it does. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Strong subject knowledge across the GCSE specification with the ability to explain high-level concepts to students of all abilities.
Proficiency in Python and a willingness to explore other languages or emerging tech trends.
A commitment to closing the gender gap in STEM by encouraging and supporting all students to excel in computing.
