The Mathematics Department

Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Maths Teacher you will be responsible for building student confidence and competence in a subject that is vital to their future prospects. Your responsibilities will include:
Instructional Excellence: Delivering high-impact engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). You will have the opportunity to teach A-Level Mathematics (and potentially Further Maths) guiding students through advanced algebraic statistical and mechanical concepts.
Mastery-Based Learning: Implementing a curriculum that prioritizes deep understanding. You will use a variety of representationsfrom concrete and pictorial to abstractto help students grasp complex mathematical relationships.
Analytical Progress: Utilizing the schools sophisticated data tracking systems to identify gaps in knowledge. You will provide targeted intervention and high-frequency low-stakes testing to ensure that concepts are embedded in long-term memory.
Curriculum Innovation: Contributing to the continuous refinement of our schemes of work. We encourage our teachers to integrate real-world applications of maths into the classroom from financial literacy to the algorithms behind modern technology.
Mathematical Literacy: Ensuring that students can articulate their reasoning clearly. You will focus on the use of correct mathematical vocabulary and the ability to construct logical multi-step proofs.
Extracurricular Enrichment: Leading initiatives that celebrate maths beyond the classroom such as the UKMT Junior and Senior Maths Challenges Maths Feast competitions or a popular Chess and Strategy Club.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be a logical thinker and an enthusiastic subject advocate. You should possess:
Academic and Professional Credentials: A degree in Mathematics Engineering Physics or a related field and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We warmly welcome applications from both experienced practitioners and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
