The Opportunity

KBR is seeking motivated professionals to join the LC4S team supporting critical Defence capability. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact sustainment software engineering and capability management activities within a complex and dynamic environment.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer and working within the LC4SB Sustainment SPO you will support engineering activities across software and firmware management. This includes investigating and recommending a software management regime across the product schedule covering bare metal operating systems applications dependencies firmware and radio waveforms.

You will work closely with Defence stakeholders and industry partners to support the delivery coordination and continuous improvement of LC4S systems ensuring operational readiness safety and performance across the lifecycle.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex software engineering activities and provide technical advice under broad direction
  • Exercise assigned engineering authorities and Technical Regulatory Authority delegations
  • Apply engineering judgement to identify risks and uncertainties informing planning and decision making
  • Assess technical and design packages including scoping review and provision of recommendations
  • Evaluate delivered materiel against endorsed requirements and Defence regulatory frameworks
  • Develop and manage software management plans configuration control and Engineering Change activities
  • Engage with external suppliers and Defence stakeholders to support delivery outcomes
  • Report and provide advice to senior stakeholders (including Director level)


As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Strong experience in software engineering architecture configuration and deployment management
  • Understanding of the Capability Life Cycle (CLC) and Defence engineering governance
  • Experience with Configuration Management principles and ASDEFCON deliverables
  • Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) schedules and implementation plans
  • Proven experience managing stakeholders and external suppliers in complex environments
  • Strong communication skills with experience briefing senior stakeholders
  • Ability to analyse technical issues and provide clear recommendations
  • Experience working within Defence or similarly regulated technical environments (highly desirable)

Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
