We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support ongoing public and federal construction projects. This role goes beyond administrative coordination-you will be actively involved in project execution field coordination documentation and issue resolution.

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support ongoing public and federal construction projects. This role goes beyond administrative coordination-you will be actively involved in project execution field coordination documentation and issue resolution.
This opportunity is best suited for candidates with real General Contractor (GC) experience who understand how construction projects are executed on-site not just managed from an office.
Key Responsibilities- Submittals Management
- Review project specifications and manage submittals from submission through approval
- Coordinate resubmittals and maintain accurate tracking logs
- RFI Coordination
- Prepare log and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Compile supporting documentation and proactively follow up for timely resolution
- Project Documentation
- Maintain daily reports (QC safety superintendent updates) with photos and detailed records
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date
- Meeting Coordination
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes for OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) and subcontractor meetings
- Track and follow up on action items to completion
- Scheduling & Field Support
- Assist with 2-week look-ahead schedules and progress tracking
- Support field coordination with superintendents and subcontractors
- Cost & Change Management
- Assist in change order processes subcontractor billing and project documentation
- Systems & Record Management
- Upload and manage project data using platforms such as RMS Procore SharePoint and Teams
- Compliance Support
- Ensure adherence to federal project requirements including safety inspections commissioning and closeout
- 2 6 years of experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager
- Experience working on commercial public or institutional construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction documents (drawings specifications submittals RFIs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with field teams subcontractors inspectors and project stakeholders
- Strong written communication and organizational skills
- Experience working on federal or government projects (DOD USACE Air National Guard etc.)
- Familiarity with construction management tools such as Procore RMS or similar systems
- Field-oriented background (Project Engineer APM or similar role)
- Ability to proactively identify issues and escalate risks
- A hands-on approach with ownership and accountability
- Active involvement in project execution-not just coordination
- Strong initiative and follow-through in a fast-paced construction environment
- Exposure to complex high-visibility public construction projects
- Direct mentorship from experienced project leadership
- Clear career progression toward a Project Manager role
