Job Summary
In partnership with our client we are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to serve as a senior partner to the Managing Director of a regulated financial services firm. This is not a back-office role. You will be the commercial and operational force that turns strategy into execution drives business growth builds high-performing teams and ensures the firm scales without losing its discipline or its edge. If you are a seasoned financial services leader who is as comfortable in a boardroom as you are rolling up your sleeves to get things done we want to meet you.
Who are we looking for
- You are a senior leader with 15 or more years of experience in asset management pension administration or regulated financial services and you have the track record to prove it.
- You are commercially minded and execution-focused someone who does not just set strategy but owns the outcomes that come from it.
- You are a decisive leader who is comfortable making difficult calls including talent decisions without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- You are operationally strong and governance-disciplined with a deep understanding of what it takes to run a regulated business at scale.
- You are a natural builder whether that is building products building teams or building systems you know how to take something from concept to reality.
- You are a strong partner to the Managing Director bringing executive presence commercial instinct and the kind of steady leadership that earns trust across the organisation.
- You are comfortable operating in a lean high-accountability environment where performance is visible and results are non-negotiable.
Your Responsibilities
Business Development and amp; Growth
- You will drive measurable growth in assets under management revenue and client acquisition translating the firms growth strategy into clear commercial targets and execution plans.
- You will build and manage strategic distribution channels and partnerships that expand the firms reach and strengthen its market position.
- You will support the origination of new mandates and client opportunities working closely with the Managing Director to identify and convert high-value prospects.
Product Development and amp; Market Expansion
- You will lead the design launch and scaling of new products and mandates ensuring disciplined time-to-market and clear commercial viability for every new offering.
- You will identify new market segments and distribution opportunities that align with the firms growth objectives and risk appetite.
- You will monitor the performance of new products after launch and refine them based on data client feedback and market conditions.
Operational Leadership and amp; Scale
- You will oversee the firms operations to ensure reliability efficiency and full regulatory compliance at all times.
- You will strengthen systems and processes to support increased assets under management and client growth without compromising service quality.
- You will maintain strong governance and risk discipline throughout the firms expansion ensuring no material service disruption as the business scales.
Talent and amp; Organisational Alignment
- You will assess capability across all roles and align talent to the firms growth objectives identifying gaps early and acting on them decisively.
- You will upgrade redeploy or replace underperforming talent where necessary always with the firms long-term performance in mind.
- You will build and sustain a high-performance culture where accountability is clear expectations are high and people are set up to succeed.
- You will ensure clear KPIs are in place across the firm and that every team member understands how their work connects to the firms overall goals.
What Success looks like
- Measurable and consistent growth in assets under management revenue and client acquisition within the first 12 months.
- New products and mandates launched on time commercially viable and performing in line with projections.
- Operations running reliably and efficiently with zero material service disruptions as the firm scales.
- A high-performing well-aligned team with clear KPIs strong accountability and minimal talent gaps across critical roles.
- Strong governance and regulatory compliance maintained across all functions with no material findings or breaches.
- A firm that is visibly stronger more organised and better positioned for growth than it was before you arrived.
To be considered for this role you should have
- A minimum of 15 years of senior leadership experience in asset management pension administration or regulated financial services.
- A Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Accounting Business or a related discipline.
- A demonstrated track record in business growth product execution or commercial expansion within a regulated environment.
- Strong operational and governance understanding with proven ability to manage compliance and risk at a senior level.
- Proven ability to build reshape and lead high-performing teams in a lean high-accountability environment.
- Executive presence and strong communication skills with the ability to operate as a credible partner to the Managing Director and key external stakeholders.
