Job Summary
Your Position at St John of God Bendigo Hospital
We are looking for an organised and adaptable Ward Clerk to join our team on a casual basis.
This role provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to ward staff under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager and supports both inpatient and outpatient services across all wards.
Shifts vary from half-day to full-day shifts and are rostered across weekdays and weekends
The Position
To be responsible for the patients medical record. This will involve:
Gaining the co-operation of the medical para-medical and nursing staff.
Keeping all patients medical record up-to-date.
Filing into the patients medical record the results of examinations such as x-ray reports Pathology reports.
Co-operating with the Medical Record Department at all times.
Taking completed patients medical record to the Medical Record Department following discharge of patient.
Prepare patients medical record prior to admission.
Prepare identify bracelet.
Escort patients to their rooms on admission.
Safe keeping of all patient effects. Report all unusual incidents accidents losses or complaints to senior nursing staff.
Answer telephone in Nurses Station refer calls to concerning patients to the Charge Nurse.
You will have ability to use initiative demonstrate reliability and thereby require minimal supervision and guidance and to work in an interactive environment as well as work with minimal supervision.
To succeed you will have the ability of understanding private health funds and billing processes for our intensive care and coronary care patients and ability to help coordinate transfers and discharges to ensure efficient patient flow

The Benefits
Casual rate: $37.94 per hr to $39.03 per hour (includes causal loading) plus 12% superannuation
