Job Summary

The Pharmacistis responsible fortheaccuratedispensing of prescriptions andperformingprospective Drug Utilization Review (DUR)in accordance withstate and federal laws and addition this position will overseeday to dayoperation of pharmacy technicians pharmacy technician traineesand interns provide patientcounsellingandassistthe Pharmacy Manager withoversight ofdaily workflow tomaintainoperational outputand meet patient expectations.

What Youll Do

  • Receiveverifyand accurately dispense prescriptionsina fast-paced environment.
  • Perform prospective DrugUtilizationReview DURin accordance withclinical andprofessional pharmacy standards.
  • Exercisescorrespondingresponsibilityof a pharmacistto ensure medications are issued for a legitimate medical purpose by a prescriber acting in the usual course of their professional practice.
  • Review patient Prescription Drug Monitoring Program assess clinical appropriateness of prescription(s) in process address and resolvepatient red flagsidentifiedduring review.
  • Interact professionally with patientspeersand and obtain clinical information and prescription clarifications as clinical/drug information to Injured Workers Pharmacys staff and clients.
  • Ensure a clean organized safe work environment is alwaysmaintained minimizing the potential dispensing errors to occur whenever possible that may result in harm to patients or harm to internal personnel at Injured Workers Pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance with lawsand regulations governingthe practice of pharmacyismaintained inclusive ofproviding requiredpatientconsultationsforboth prescription and over-the-countermedications.
  • Participate inIWPs QualityAssuranceProgram driving continuous quality improvements (CQI) andtimelyreportingofquality related events (QRE).

What Youll Need to Succeed

  • Pharm D and Massachusetts Registered Pharmacist License in good standingrequired
  • Access and working knowledge ofMassPAT/PDMP
  • Willingness to obtain out of State pharmacistlicensureat the direction ofPharmacy Management
  • Strong working knowledge of Pain Management
  • Understanding of State & Federal regulations
  • Abilityto deliver high qualitypatientservice and patient advocacy
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing or sitting for up to 8 hours per day
  • Schedule: This role offers some flexibility; however the general working hours are expected to be:
    • Monday 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm
    • Tuesday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
    • Wednesday 9:30 am to 6:00pm
    • Thursday 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm
    • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing or sitting for up to 8 hours per day
