Job Summary
- Parttime (0.6 FTE) working Monday Wednesday and Thursday
- 12month parental leave backfill with potential for extension
- Based at Yarra Junction and Lilydale sites on the lands of the Wurundjeri people including one evening shift at Yarra Junction (Mondays 11am7pm)
- $51.23 - $54.39 per hour (pay point TBC) 12% superannuation salary packaging of up to $18550

In this role you will be providing professional therapeutic counselling and support to people adversely affected by gambling harm and help promote Gamblers Help services to the wider community.
Your role your impact
As a Counsellor - Gamblers Help you will be required to undertake a number of activities including but not limited to:
- Providing intake assessments and information to clients contacting the service.
- Delivering individual couples and/or family counselling both facetoface and via telehealth including some afterhours sessions.
- Arranging appropriate referrals for clients to internal and external services as required.
- Identifying and documenting systemic issues and trends arising from casework.
- Engaging assertively with clients including proactive followup at agreed intervals to encourage service engagement and providing indirect client services where required (e.g. case notes coordination documentation).
- Participating in local community and statewide activities and projects to support awareness and accessibility of Gamblers Help services.
Who were looking for
In addition to a passion and drive to support people within the community you will have:
- A genuine interest in supporting individuals families and affected others experiencing gamblingrelated harms.
- Relevant counselling experience providing therapeutic support in a clinical or community setting.
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology Social Work Counselling or a closely aligned discipline.
- Demonstrated clinical competence ideally within a multidisciplinary team and with clients presenting multiple or complex needs.
- Experience or strong understanding of the notforprofit sector and the operations of community organisations.
- Eligibility for professional membership/registration with APS (AHPRA) AASW PACFA or Level 2 ACA membership.
What will make you stand out
- Experience working specifically in gambling harm addiction or behavioural change counselling.
- Confidence in delivering evidencebased interventions such as CBT MI traumainformed or strengthsbased approaches.
- Strong rapportbuilding skills especially with clients experiencing vulnerability or complex challenges.
- Experience collaborating with community organisations health services or external stakeholders.
- Ability to contribute to service development and continuous improvement activities.
- Advanced understanding of referral pathways risk identification and coordinated care responses.
