Senior Engineer Geotechnical

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Companys only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified experienced and reliable Senior Engineer - Geotechnical who will maintain a safe standard for all personnel infrastructure and equipment on site by mitigating the potential outcomes of geotechnical-related hazards (rock fall slope stability inrush subsidence etc.). Implement and maintain stringent geotechnical designs systems and procedures and identify business improvement through problem-solving innovation and technology.

As a member of the Geotechnical section you may occasionally assist other sections to ensure that all major hazards are monitored reporting is completed procedures are followed and information is communicated to the appropriate stakeholders

The role will report to the Superintendent - Geotechnical.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Review all geotechnical data to ensure databases are frequently updated and relevant.
• Develop and update the site-specific empirical models through the reconciliation of underground excavations
• Analyze available and/or new geotechnical information and endorse geotechnical designs and plans optimization
• Establish and maintain geotechnical monitoring programs for key areas of interest such as advanced monitoring systems remote sensing technologies and geophysical surveys to improve geotechnical monitoring capabilities
• Develop and update the site-specific empirical models and parameters through reconciliation of pastefill and cemented rock fill
• Coordinate project activities and resources to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets

Qualifications :

Educational Background:

• Degree in Mining/Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/Geology

Work Experience and Background:

• 5 years of experience in the mining industry as a geotechnical engineer

Specialization/License:

• Licensed Mining/Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/Geology
