Amazon Lab126 is seeking a Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer to join our Battery Management System (BMS) teamwhere youll own the complete lifecycle of battery architecture that powers devices like Echo Fire tablets Kindle and Alexa-enabled robots used by customers worldwide.

Your Impact:
As the technical owner of end-to-end BMS architecture youll drive innovation from the earliest concept phases through high-volume production. Youll translate real customer needs into cutting-edge electrical designs that balance runtime performance safety and costmaking critical decisions on IC component selection circuit design and firmware/software integration that directly impact millions of users daily experiences.

Your Mission:
Architect from scratch: Define BMS requirements and electrical designs for multiple products simultaneously from early prototypes to mass production
Ensure performance and safety: Conduct rigorous PCB reviews DFMEA assessments and testing to identify and eliminate potential hazards before they reach customers
Solve real-world problems: Dive deep into NPI and field issues perform root cause analysis and apply lessons learned to prevent future failures
Collaborate globally: Work with cell/pack vendors silicon partners and cross-functional teams spanning the US and China to deliver world-class battery solutions

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5 years of experience with battery system design or power electronics
- Experience with battery pack design BMS ICs (fuel gauge protection charger ICs) chip evaluation and integration of Li-ion/Li-polymer systems
- Proficiency in schematic design PCB layout review and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) for high-volume products
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues in ICs system designs and hardware-firmware interactions.
- Experience in developing test plans for execution at oversea vendors
- Experience with root cause analysis and failure analysis for NPI or field-return issues
- Ability to communicate clearly with global multidisciplinary teams.
- Working knowledge of battery safety standards (e.g. UL 2054 IEC 62133 UN 38.3)

- Masters degree in electrical engineering computer engineering or equivalent
- 8 years of BMS design experience across the full product lifecycle from concept through mass production (EVT/DVT/PVT)
- Experience with battery algorithm development or hardware modeling for SOC/SOH estimation
- Familiarity with digital circuit design and various communications protocols such as I2C SME UART SPI USB etc.
- Knowledge of analog-to-digital converter DC/DC converters and power management
- Experience in writing test automation scripts using Python
- Familiarity with firmware integration for BMS subsystems and register-level IC configuration
- Experience with DFMEA processes and working directly with cell/pack vendors and silicon partners across global supply chains
- Proficiency with SPICE MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools for circuit simulation and battery modeling
- Experience partnering with firmware teams to define and implement firmware drivers and algorithms
