Position Summary
The Billing Analyst I is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing for customers across Lighting & Smart Services Business Unit (LSSBU) including Video Surveillance Colocation and Utility Services. This role involves billing operations auditing compliance dispute resolution and collections of support while collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Billing Operations
- Coordinate billing activities for regulated unregulated and governmental accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate billing for LSSBU and Utility Services customers
- Establish new accounts and apply correct rate/rider combinations per company regulations
- Manage billing for contracts including new broken and one-time charges (NESBs)
- Collaborate with internal teams including Sales Engineering Metering and Customer Service
Compliance & Documentation
- Review commercial contracts for accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Maintain billing documentation in systems such as CSS LAMP Power Services Database and Documentum
- Perform compliance checks and resolve workflow management forms (WFMs)
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements tariffs and internal controls
Billing Analysis & Adjustments
- Analyze billing data based on contracts and tariffs (EOL TOU etc.)
- Investigate discrepancies and perform billing adjustments with proper approvals
- Research historical data for audits adjustments and reporting
- Interpret prints maps and database records to reconcile billing data
Customer Support & Collections
- Support internal and external customers with billing inquiries
- Investigate and resolve customer disputes related to invoices
- Assist in collections activities including contacting customers for past-due invoices
- Partner with sales teams to enhance customer value and satisfaction
Process Improvement & New Business Support
- Assist in onboarding new business processes and billing workflows
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in billing and operations
- Work effectively in a fast-paced high-volume environment with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (preferred)
- 0 3 years of experience in billing customer service or related field
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Teams)
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with billing systems (CSS preferred)
- Knowledge of utility billing rates and tariffs
- Experience in customer service marketing or sales support
- Familiarity with databases and compliance processes
