Position Summary

The Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for supporting the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders by monitoring and evaluating patients cardiopulmonary and neurological activity during sleep studies. This role involves applying clinical protocols interpreting complex data and ensuring high-quality patient care across diverse patient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and monitor sleep studies in accordance with physician orders and established departmental protocols.
  • Assess monitor and document patients cardiopulmonary and neurological status throughout diagnostic procedures.
  • Apply clinical judgment to interpret data and respond to patient needs or technical challenges during studies.
  • Ensure accurate setup calibration and operation of sleep study equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical or patient-related issues during procedures.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and study documentation.
  • Provide patient education and ensure comfort and safety throughout the testing process.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support diagnostic and treatment outcomes.
  • Adhere to all safety infection control and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Completion of an ASTEP Program or equivalent education/experience required.
  • Current Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in sleep study technology.
  • Strong analytical technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinical protocols in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills.
