Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago is seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Med/Psych RN) to join our multidisciplinary care team. This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient-centered care to individuals with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. The Med/Psych RN plays a critical role in assessing planning implementing and evaluating care while collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Shift Options:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM 7:30 PM
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Employment Type: Full-Time

• Utilize the nursing process clinical judgment and critical thinking to provide high-quality care to assigned patients.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify both medical and psychiatric needs including vital signs and patient history.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans; delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
• Administer medications including psychotropic drugs and treatments for medical conditions in accordance with established protocols.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists physicians psychologists social workers and interdisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions treatment options and coping strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral health support in acute situations.
• Advocate for patients to ensure access to appropriate medical and psychiatric services.
• Participate in patient rounds and contribute to care planning discussions.
• Support a safe and therapeutic environment managing challenging behaviors appropriately.
• Coordinate discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.

• Associate Degree in Nursing (required); BSN or enrollment in a BSN program preferred
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license Illinois
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS certification preferred/required (as applicable)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention & Intervention) certification required
• Minimum 2 3 years of Med-Surg and Psychiatric nursing experience required
• Strong knowledge of psychotropic medications and their interactions with medical treatments
• Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to patient care needs
• Physical ability to lift and assist patients as required
