Construction Discovery Shadow Program

BX Civil & Construction is a heavy highway construction company providing services in concrete paving guardrail structure repair erosion control and other various areas. BX Civil & Construction developed the Construction Discovery Shadow Program to expose high school students to the heavy highway construction field.

What is the Construction Discovery Shadow Program

• • On-site observatory experience at job sites within the area
  • Small manageable sessions with plenty of time for questions
  • Flexible scheduling based on student availability
  • All personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided for the student

  • Field Technology
  • Supervisor Roles

• A free program for High School Students
  • Limited space is available so apply early

Who is this program for

• High school students who are:
  • 16 years or older
  • Thinking about starting a career in construction after high school or just want to learn more about the field.
  • Interested in going to a trade school or community college to study Construction Management Heavy Equipment Operation or Diesel Mechanics.
  • Considering attending a 4-year college to major in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Looking for summer jobs to do between college classes.
    

Program Requirements:

• Students must to fill out the application.
• Both the student and their parent must sign a program waiver before starting.
• Students must arrange their own transportation to and from the BX Project Office in Dell Rapids for scheduled sessions.
• This program is only for observing; students cannot join in the actual work.
