Reporting to the Career and Technical Education Coordinator the Biotechnology Instructors role is to inspire and prepare students with career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible young adults.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs and interests of all students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goalsestablishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance with organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports electronically.
- Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
- Proficient basic computer skills
- Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the classroom students and teaching assistants.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience and education in the area of biotechnology as required by the MA DESE Chapter 74 licensure requirements
- Experience in urban education (preferred)
- Bachelors Degree or higher
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Chapter 74 licensure in biotechnology is required or the ability to acquire the licensure.
