The Case Manager for the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX (OCRTIX) will assist the University of Kansas in achieving its goals of providing an accessible and respectful learning and working environment for all by conducting prompt thorough and objective investigations. The OCRTIX Case Manager will serve as the primary contact for providing support measures to parties in OCRTIX cases. They will provide guidance and leadership to others in OCRTIX about providing support measures.
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the Universitys non-discrimination investigations with a particular emphasis on assisting parties with support measures and monitoring after effects from reports and investigations. The incumbent will work closely with the Universitys Student Affairs Offices KU Student Housing the General Counsel and Human Resources Management to assist parties related to the Universitys Title IX and Discrimination Complaint Resolution Processes and anti-discrimination policies involving students employees and members of the public. Though this position has responsibilities that require it to span the broader OCRTIX office this position reports directly to Director of Intake Outreach Compliance and Operations but is expected to work cooperatively with other Directors Investigators and AVCs.
Additional Candidate Instruction
A complete application consists of:
- Serves as the primary contact for people seeking pregnancy and parenting accommodations in compliance with policy federal and state law. Develops processes policies and documents at all of KUs campuses to implement pregnancy and parenting accommodations. Develops and maintains necessary relationships and connections with other employees to implement pregnancy and parenting accommodations at all of KUs campuses.
- Independently evaluates and implements support measure requests for parties with guidance from the AVC Directors and Investigators assessing whether a support measure request is reasonable and appropriate given the circumstances.
- Attends intake meetings as available and appropriate to ensure accurate and timely supportive measures for students faculty and staff; answers questions and provides ongoing clarification about those support measures.
- Develops communication templates for support measures based on best practices.
- Develops processes for the seamless facilitation and implementation of supportive measures for complainants respondents and witnesses taking steps to avoid revictimization.
- Serves as a point of contact and maintains regular communication with parties to provide updates on the status of cases when appropriate.
- Facilitates any actions and follow up necessary for sanctions and terms for informal resolutions.
- Develops processes for the seamless facilitation and implementation of necessary actions per informal resolutions and sanctions following the decision-making process.
- Stays current with best practices for support measures and sanctioning.
- Develops safety plans with individuals who have experienced domestic and sexual violence to ensure a safe on-campus experience.
- Serves as a back up for the Director of Civil Rights Informal Resolutions when that position is conflicted out or unable to facilitate an informal resolution.
- Speak to informal resolutions in intake meetings as relevant and appropriate.
- Represents the OCRTIX at various university events distributing materials and answering questions.
- Conducts trainings on the OCRTIX process and best practices in supporting students and employees who disclose experiencing harassment and discrimination.
- Assists in preparing outreach materials for the office and for the office website when needed.
- Participate in rotation with other staff on job searches and campus committees as needed.
- Regularly attend full OCRTIX staff meetings as well as supervisor 1:1s
- Assist other staff members with special projects when needed.
- Other duties as assigned. As the OCRTIX and its work advance on campus position responsibilities may shift or change to meet office/staff needs.

- High School diploma or GED equivalency and five (5) years of related experience OR Bachelors plus one (1) year of related experience.
- One (1) year of experience working in higher education.
- Three (3) years of experience navigating challenging and complex discussions with a wide range of individuals regarding OCRTIX topics.
- Two (2) years ofexperience working with private and highly sensitive information.
- Detail oriented organized and demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities independently as evidenced through application materials and work history.
- Two (2) years of experience working with Microsoft Office.
- Masters Degree in higher education counseling field or similar profession or a minimum 10 years experience in higher education.
- Experience presenting prepared content to large audiences.
- Experience utilizing Maxient (software system) and Canva.
- Experience working in medical education.
- Experience with informal resolution restorative justice or mediation.
- Experience working with pregnancy and/or disability accommodations.
