The 22 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UP Health System Marquette is the regions only intensive care unit specializing in the care of ill or premature newborn infants. Our NICU has advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals to give special care to our tiniest patients. We also care for babies in our NICU who are not as sick as others but need specialized nursing care and provide neonatal transport for the entire Upper Peninsula.

How youll contribute

A NICU RNwho excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medical care treatment.

• Documents patient care given.

• Monitors records and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team physician patient and family.

• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.

• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care including patient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.

• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associates degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelors degree preferred).

Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (within 1 year)
