Job Description
Position: Interim Chief Financial Officer
Organisation: Not-for-profit organisation
Location: Canberra ACT
Start Date: As soon as possible
Duration: Approximately 6 months (potential to extend)
Salary: $200000 per annum plus 12% super
Overview
Working in partnership with government industry and the broader community the organisation plays a key role in driving improved standards delivering education initiatives and supporting ethical practices nationwide. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer to join the organisation during a critical financial period ensuring continuity of leadership governance and financial oversight.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of the Executive Management Team this role will lead a small finance team and provide high-level strategic and operational financial support.
Key responsibilities:
- Overseeing end-of-year financial reporting and quality assurance
- Leading the budgeting and forecasting processes
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to the Board
- Managing cash flow and financial performance
- Ensuring strong financial controls compliance and audit processes
- Identifying and managing organisational financial risks
- Providing strategic financial advice to the CEO and Board
- Engaging with and supporting relevant sub-committees
- Supporting the implementation of a new financial management system
Skills/experience required:
- CA or CPA qualified with experience in senior financial leadership roles
- Strong commercial and business acumen
- Experience contributing to strategic and operational planning
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- High-level interpersonal and negotiation capabilities
- Experience within the not-for-profit sector (highly regarded)
