This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your Role

As a Domain and CMS Architect you will play a pivotal role within Radio-Canadas Digital Media this position you will collaborate across various groups to make high-level architectural decisions that impact the daily work of hundreds of colleagues. You will join our CMS team the engine behind the software used by journalists and content creators across all of Radio-Canada. Essentially if content appears on our digital platforms it was powered by the software this team develops! We are looking for an experienced leader to help increase our teams delivery velocity and spearhead initiatives related to the use of artificial intelligence in the coming year.

Key Responsibilities of a Domain and CMS Architect

  • Help shape and evolve the long-term vision for the Domain and CMS ecosystem.

  • Align technology choices with the broader Digital Media strategy established by the technical producers.

  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams using the C4 model and a Diagram as Code approach.

  • Identify evaluate and document integration methods for internal and external third-party services.

  • Work regularly with other architects and technical leads to ensure proposed architecture solutions factor in the needs and constraints of all involved teams.

  • Act as a key communicator keeping architects technical leads and Digital Media management informed of architectural developments within the Domain and CMS space.

  • Help define the CMS teams road map in conjunction with other project leads involved in the initiative.

  • Identify emerging technologies on the market or propose custom-built solutions to address technical challenges.

  • Clearly articulate the why behind technical choices to ensure buy-in and smooth implementation across the organization.

  • Act as a subject matter expert during backlog refinement and demo sessions when required.

  • Consult with infrastructure (DevOps) managers to assess the cost and performance implications of proposed architectures.

  • Collaborate with CBC teams to identify opportunities for synergy and technical harmonization across the organization.

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Data Graph and the object models for our digital products.

  • Content indexing with Elasticsearch.

  • Azure DevOps (build and deployment pipelines).

Examples of Upcoming Architecture Workstreams for This Team

  • Developing a strategic vision for maintaining and evolving core dependencies (e.g. NPM packages or with our vendors Elasticsearch and MongoDB).

  • Redesigning of the editorial image management system (APIs storage indexing performance UI Akamai CDN etc.).

  • Partnering with our AI Acceleration unit on proofs of concept designed to boost journalistic productivity through enhanced metadata.

What You Bring

  • 15 years software development experience (senior level).

  • Five years relevant experience in an architectural role.

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Expert-level knowledge of the React/TypeScript stack and its dependencies.

  • Strong proficiency in Core stacks.

  • Strong knowledge of GraphQL.

  • Deep expertise in Azure Cloud services and their practical application within our business context.

  • Strong soft and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to be a team player who excels at building consensus and bringing people together around new ideas.

  • A collaborative mindset.

  • Outstanding ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Comfort producing technical documentation that is accessible to a wide range of users.

  • Bilingualism an asset.
