This is an in-person stipend position.
Overview of Program: Boston Public Schools has three exam schools: Boston Latin School Boston Latin Academy and the OBryant School of Math and Science.
Admission to these schools is based on a students grade point average and performance on an entrance exam NWEAs Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Growth tests. NWEAs computer-adaptive MAP Growth tests provide teachers students and parents with an accurate assessment of a students achievement precisely measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. BPS students take this assessment as part of regular school testing; however non-BPS students must attend a weekend test administration at a BPS site to take the MAP test in a standardized environment.
Overview of Stipend Position: Boston Public Schools Office of Welcome Services is currently hiring a team of Proctors to administer and supervise the MAP testing on Saturday May 30th with the opportunity to serve on two additional weekend test dates for non-Boston Public Schools students applying to exam schools. Proctors will be assigned to one of the following testing sites: Boston Latin School OBryant School of Math and Science and the Mario Umana Academy.
Proctors play an essential role in MAP administration and well-trained proctors ensure consistency across students testing events. Proctors will be responsible for the following: 1) Administering the assessment in school classrooms to students; 2) Adhering to the procedures and policies set forth by NWEA and the school district; 3) Ensuring a secure testing environment; 4) Verifying that students are appropriately assigned to a test session; and 5) Working with the Technical Coordinator NWEA Technical Support and Test Site Coordinator to resolve technical difficulties that occur during testing.
Schedule Requirements: The 2026 Spring test dates are Saturday May 30 from 7:30-3:00 pm; Sunday May 31 from 7:30-3:00 pm; and Sunday June 7 from 7:30-3:00 pm. Interested parties MUST report on Saturday May 30 and may apply for additional test administration dates for additional stipends. Proctors may be required to attend up to 3 hours of training (remote and/or in-person) and commit up to a six (6) hour workday for each testing date.
Please note that this is a temporary part-time opportunity to be completed outside of your regular working hours.
Responsibilities: As part of the stipend opportunity Proctors will be required to:
- Before test dates participate in up to 3 hours of district-led professional learning sessions; depending on previous experience it may require fewer hours.
- Be primarily responsible for test administration for one classroom including:
- Taking attendance and verifying your classroom roster
- Assisting with the arrival and dismissal of students;
- Communicating to students the schedule for the day;
- Distributing any accommodation materials;
- Maintaining inventory of Chromebooks;
- Delivering the test to students;
- and collecting test materials and securely returning them to the Test Site Coordinator.
- Ensure a secure testing environment by:
- reconfiguring the classroom if needed;
- covering any classroom materials on walls;
- and enforcing test-taking protocol.
- Work with the Test Site Coordinator to resolve any device- or MAP-related test issues.
Qualifications - Required:
- Bachelors degree
- Ability to follow testing procedures
- Ability to communicate instructions clearly
- Ability to remain alert to detect instances of improper conduct during testing
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Current BPS teacher with a Massachusetts teaching license
- In-person availability for the required dates
- Experience administering MAP Growth in a classroom setting
- Eligible for stipends from Boston Public Schools
Compensation: $300
