Position: Supervisory Accountant (Assistant Manager Level)

• Reports to: Finance Director (Japan)
• Direct Reports: Junior and Senior Accounting staff

Role Overview

A global organization is seeking a Supervisory Accountant to support finance operations and lead a small accounting team. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with team leadership and process improvement initiatives with potential for expanded people management in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly financial closing activities
• Handle tax-related processes and filings
• Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance operations
• Provide guidance and leadership to junior team members
• Support process improvement initiatives and finance-related projects
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments
• Communicate and coordinate with international offices in English

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with monthly closing processes
• Experience in tax-related accounting tasks
• Business-level English proficiency
• Native or fluent Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent)
• Strong teamwork orientation and interpersonal skills
• Logical thinking and effective communication abilities
• Experience in team leadership or a strong interest in moving into a management role
• Experience working in an international or multinational environment
• Experience contributing to process improvements or finance-related projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using ERP systems (e.g. major accounting platforms or financial software)
